The 1842 Society celebrates our history whilst looking ahead to our future, and was established to recognise the generosity and support of those who choose to leave a gift to the School in their Will.
Founded by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat in 1842 as the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Woldingham is one of the oldest girls’ schools in the UK. Your legacy will ensure it continues to thrive, providing the very best education for future generations of Woldingham girls.
Many of our alumnae have already chosen to make this pledge and we are extremely grateful for their vital support.

Pledging a gift through your Will is an effective way to leave a gift free of tax if you are a UK taxpayer and potentially reducing Inheritance Tax, whilst leaving an enduring legacy for a cause that is meaningful to you.
All legacies, of any size, are greatly appreciated and by pledging a gift you will be warmly welcomed into the 1842 Society. Every gift counts, whether it is a fixed sum or a share of your estate.
We are delighted to have partnered with adeus, a will writing and legacy planning service, to offer Woldingham alumnae the opportunity to write your will FREE of charge.
Adeus is the leading will writing service for school and university alumnae.
Alongside the free will writing service, they offer practical guides and calculators as you plan your legacy as well as a really useful digital vault where you can save documents, memories, messages for loved ones and even video which is stored securely. You can also create a Letter of Wishes, often read out alongside your will, where you can be very specific about how your will is distributed. If the simple will writing solution is not sufficient Adeus will put you in touch with a solicitor who will deal with more convoluted requirements.
In partnering with Adeus and providing this FREE service to our alumnae, we hope that you might consider leaving a gift to Woldingham in your will, whether that be pecuniary, residuary or a specific gift, however there is no obligation and the FREE will writing service is not dependent on this. All alumnae who leave a gift in their will to Woldingham School, will become members of our 1842 Society, which exists to offer exclusive benefits, events and offers to our legators.
